Rosamond van Wingerden is a singer, Yiddish dancer, writer, and translator.

She received a 2022-23 Fulbright Grant to research traditional and contemporary Yiddish song in Germany, mentored by Alan Bern, and studied Yiddish singing with Cantor Sveta Kundish. As a classical and Yiddish singer, she has worked with musicians and ensembles including Alan Bern, Patrick Farrell, Iarla Ó Lionáird, Eighth Blackbird, and Roomful of Teeth. Her debut album will be released in early 2026.

As a member of the collective Yiddish.Berlin, Rosamond organizes cultural events that bring together Berlin’s vibrant Yiddish language and music communities. She teaches at festivals and organizations including Yiddish Summer Weimar, Shtetl Berlin, the Maison de la Culture Juive, and the Union des Progressistes Juifs de Belgique.

A traditional Yiddish dancer, Rosamond studied with Zev Feldman, Steve Weintraub, Sayumi Yoshida, and Michael Alpert. She is also a freelance writer and translator from Yiddish, Russian, French, Italian, and Dutch.

Rosamond holds a BA summa cum laude in Comparative Literature and Music from Princeton University, where she was awarded the Junior Paper Prize for her translations of Sappho and the departmental Senior Thesis Prize for her research on opera and nationalism in Central and Eastern Europe. She also completed minors in Vocal Performance, Music Theater, Russian & Eurasian Studies, and Ancient Greek. She is completing an MA in Society, Law and Religion at KU Leuven.
